Explorations on trumpet in acoustic and electronic space: moog modules and delays manipulate acoustic trumpet instant nothing is set in advance, all the choices are made on the fly. The impro alternates full acoustic sound experiments to heavily layered pounding electronic fields. And every conceivable variation in between.

A sound installation using vintage tape recorders and speakers, each one looping own short sound fragment always made new for every occasion and pre-recorded on audio tracks embedded in various stretches of silence. All of this forms an ever-changing composition of various densities and layers and unpredictable interactions upon which Bart Maris lays down a dreamlike soundscape of improvisations on trumpet.

Lode Vercampt (B): cello / Bart Maris (B): trumpet, compositions Krommekeer is a small country road in Meerbeke (Belgium), where Bart grew up and returned in 2013 with Lode to record this cd (out on elenegocito¬records): songs that he gathered together over the years, residue of the most diverse projects. The word ”krommekeer” (literally: crooked bend) is also a nice metaphor for this music: the remains of a bumpy track of various trials and projects for these tunes that keep on growing.

Peter Vandenberghe (piano) and Bart (trumpet) play together for 25 years in different bigger formations: X-Legged Sally and Flat Earth Society (to name the most famous). Now they play as a duo focussing on much more direct dialogues in their playing using compositions of Bart and free improvised pieces: clear choices and constant vigilance prevails on appointments and solid form. The basic principle is strictly acoustically with predilection for large dynamic contrasts and ever-changing density / colour / texture parameters which weigh as heavily as tonality / rhythm. This makes this duo more unexpected / surprising. They're recording their first full cd in september 2015.

Bart Maris (B): trumpet, Flugelhorn Giovanni Barcella (It-B): drum Melody and pulse meet in open improvisations. No form barriers, a lot of dialogues, energetic and inspired by the great Ornette approach to work with phrase and rhythm. Giovanni and Bart play together for more than 20 years now: they met in Ghent jazz scene and kept on playin' together ever since that moment, on street, in gallery's...(Giovanni with Italian roots, lives in Ghent...)

Coloratura soprano Sylvie De Pauw and Bart Maris inoculate their improvisations and musical dialogues on their own compositions as well as the repertoire of the great masters, with a great sense of colour and dynamics. Alban Berg, Gorecki, Arvo Part, Purcell... only the two of them. In 2017 they première 'Brave Maria Nys', a girl from Aalter and later the long-life wife of famous Aldous Huxley, ever standing in his shadow.

The music of Viktor Tóth & Masim Badavi Players, accompanied by Simple One's storytelling calls for a travel along free jazz, funk and oriental music to never-existed landscapes, where you can get only once - the vision of the view is rooted in the moment, it is unrepeatable and a memorial-like. Yes...(evolved out of Radjastanese Gypsy tradition) Horns yes: high and low copper (bass and melody ...). So trumpet and souza can do ... (both 3 persons and we have and fanfare. That's P'TITS CONS. (short for: petits consommation / "tklein verbruik), unpretentious music, minimalist in design, but with strong breath they blow the party started. With its own repertoire based on the traditions of the great streetbands (Gilles de Binche, Jaipur brassbands, frevo the olinda, foroa and pe de serra and New Orleans), they challenge the imagination of the listener.

»1000« is a German/ Dutch/ Belgian / American band – not a so called “project”, but a “working band”: the group has built a remarkable list of concerts, festival appearances, cd releases and reviews since its foundation in 2004. The quartet is called “1000″, because one-thousand is a large number. »1000«, consisting of the “rhythm-dream-team”: de Joode/ Vatcher and the (musical) “twins” Maris/ Klare, is at home in the world of improvised music, but still deals intensively with compositions by a.o. Klare, Ravel, Pergolesi. Their musical language and strategy of communication (as documented on 3 CDs) is almost telepathically and has crystallised in the course of many concerts. With “1000″ composition and its improvisational development go hand in hand, the band masterfully manages to add a Higgs particle to any burgeoning idea in order transform this idea into composed universe. The repertoire is complex, but never static – the music stays solid at any moment.
